You should expect muddy paths and some exposed sections. A head for heights and sure-footedness are therefore essential, as some of the tours have respectable deep views and rocky paths.
The following program is intended as a rough guideline. It is subject to change due to external factors such as weather and conditions.
We meet for this hiking trip between 17:00 and 18:00 on the Lofoten at Hattvika Lodge in Ballstad (Vestvågøy). For those arriving by plane, we offer a transfer from Evenes/Narvik airport to the lodge at 13:00.
After checking in and getting to know each other, we plan our first hike for the next day, discuss the basic itinerary of the trip and enjoy dinner together. Afterwards we relax and enjoy the evening.
Long days, bright nights. In summer, the sun shines around the clock on the Lofoten, and in addition to the usual hikes, we plan a midnight hike, depending on conditions, and explore the Lofoten in the golden light of the low sun at night.
Possible destinations:
After a leisurely breakfast, you have the option of a relaxing hike on the long stretched Vetten, which will give you a completely new view. For those who are interested, we can arrange a fun supporting program to use the time on the Lofoten for exploring off the hiking trails.
Alternatively, you can spend the day exploring the Lofoten Islands with other participants or on your own.
Although we have already climbed several peaks, there are still some highlights waiting for us. To the west is Lofotodden National Park with one of the most beautiful peaks and the most famous beaches in Lofoten - Ryten and Kvalvika Strand. To the east, Gurtenden and Bulitinden are a double summit with views over the vast Vestfjord that separates the Lofoten from the Norwegian mainland.
After a final breakfast together, the week is over far too quickly and departure is just around the corner. For those who have booked a transfer to Evenes Airport, the journey north takes around four hours. The planned arrival time at the airport is around 13:00.
The weather on Lofoten can be very changeable due to its location directly on the Atlantic Ocean. In the event that the weather makes safe hiking tours impossible, we have various alternatives in our program so that you can still spend an exciting day.
The Lofoten Islands are a picturesque archipelago in the north of Norway. From Bodø to Narvik, countless smaller and larger islands stretch out into the North Atlantic, dotted with rugged mountains and white sandy beaches on the azure blue sea that you would not expect to find here. Thanks to a multitude of peaks between 300 and approx. 900 meters high and countless hiking trails, the Lofoten Islands are a true hiker's paradise. The unique nature, the local wildlife and the glow of the midnight sun make for unforgettable moments.
Our hiking trip to the Lofoten Islands takes you to the Vestvågøy region with the main town of Leknes. Our base is located in an authentic fishing village, from where we reach a number of attractive and varied hikes.
The method of travel is up to you. The Lofoten Islands can be reached by car in conjunction with a longer journey. You can reach the north in about two days with various night trains from Central Europe and the quickest way is by plane.
We offer you an optionally bookable transfer from Evenes Airport:
Arrival: Departure from Evenes 13:00 Departure: Planned arrival in Evenes 13:00 hrs
For travel tips with your own car or motorhome, we are at your disposal. Just get in touch with us.
Meeting point at Hattvika Lodge is between 17:00 and 18:00 on Saturday evening.
In Ballstad, a picturesque fishing village, tradition is combined with modernity. We spend the night in a typical rorbu at Hattvika Lodge. The converted fisherman's hut conveys the charm of the Lofoten Islands and at the same time offers state-of-the-art comfort. The accommodation has a cozy living area with kitchen, two bathrooms and four bedrooms, each with two single beds.
A washing machine can be used on site.
You can choose whether you book a double room for single use or a bed in a double room. We divide the rooms so that you have a room partner of the same sex. If the second bed is not booked, we will provide you with the double room for single use, but in this case we will give you a 50% discount on the surcharge for the single room. If someone else is found for the second bed before departure, you will of course be refunded the extra charge. Alternatively, you can rebook to one of our other trips or cancel free of charge within the period specified in the terms and conditions.
We only have a limited number of single rooms available. So book as early as possible. After your booking, we will contact you to see if a single room is available. If you book a single room, it may not be located in the cabin, but elsewhere in Hattvika Lodge.
Breakfast is provided by us. We prepare the Breakfast PLUS for you every morning in the hut. The PLUS stands for fruit and sandwiches that you can take with you for the day.
You are flexible and responsible for your own dinner. You can decide whether you prefer the local restaurants or would rather buy food together and cook at the accommodation. We pass supermarkets every now and then so that you can stock up and the hut has a fully equipped kitchen.
Basically, you need the same equipment as for hiking in the Alps.
Please bear in mind that we are in the far north on the Atlantic coast, where weather conditions can change quickly. You should therefore be equipped for sun and clouds, storms and rain in equal measure.
You will receive a detailed equipment list in good time before the start of the course.
