Individual sections can be somewhat exposed, but are always passable on a hiking trail. Some paths are relatively bumpy and have roots. Good surefootedness and experience in trail running on alpine paths as well as a head for heights are therefore essential. There are muddy passages in places.
The following program serves as an approximate guide. It is subject to change and depends on external influences such as weather and other conditions.
We meet between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. at Hattvika Lodge in Ballstad (Vestvågøy). For those arriving by plane, we offer a transfer from Evenes/Narvik airport to the accommodation at 1 p.m.
After checking in and getting to know each other, we plan our first run for the next day, discuss the basic itinerary of the trip and enjoy dinner together. Afterwards we relax and let the evening draw to a close.
Thanks to the long days and light nights, we are spoiled for choice: run in the morning, during the day or rather in the evening and into the night? Together, we plan the respective routes and explore the west side of the Vestvågøy region on longer and shorter trail runs with a view of the Atlantic Ocean.
Possible destinations are here:
Even if it's difficult, the body needs a rest and we treat ourselves to this on the fifth day of the trip. For all those who are interested, we will put together a relaxed supporting program to use the time on the Lofoten Islands for explorations away from the running routes. Alternatively, you can spend the day as you wish and explore the islands of Lofoten with other participants or on your own.
After getting to know the west coast, we are now heading east. With a view of the huge Vestfjord, which separates Lofoten from the Norwegian mainland, we use the two days of walking for a change of perspective with new impressions of the picturesque east coast. A selection of possible summit destinations:
After a final breakfast together, the week is already over far too quickly and departure is just around the corner. For all those who have booked a transfer to Evenes Airport, the four-hour drive north is still to come. The planned arrival time at the airport is around 1 p.m.
Due to the exposed location of the Lofoten Islands, we have to expect a wide variety of weather conditions. In the event that the weather makes a safe running program impossible, we have various alternatives in our program so that you can still spend an exciting day.
The Lofoten Islands are a picturesque archipelago in the north of Norway. Countless smaller and larger islands stretch out into the North Atlantic between Bodø and Narvik, dotted with rugged mountains and white sandy beaches on the turquoise blue sea that you would never expect to find here. Thanks to a multitude of hiking trails, the Lofoten Islands are a true Eldorado for trail runners and hikers, and their unique nature makes for unforgettable moments spent here under the Norwegian midnight sun.
For our trail runs in Lofoten, we choose the Vestvågøy region with the main town of Leknes as our base. From here, we have a variety of trail running options in all exposures and with different characters - from remote and wild to well-developed but no less exciting running routes.
The method of travel is up to you. The Lofoten Islands can be reached in connection with a longer journey by car, in about two days with various night trains from Central Europe or on the fastest way by plane.
We offer you an optionally bookable transfer from Evenes Airport:
We are happy to provide you with travel tips for your own car or motorhome. Just get in touch with us.
Meeting point at the Hattvika Lodge is between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday evening.
In Ballstad, a picturesque fishing village, tradition is combined with modernity. We spend the nights in a typical rorbu at Hattvika Lodge. The converted fisherman's hut conveys the charm of the Lofoten Islands and at the same time offers modern comfort. The accommodation has a cozy living area with kitchen, two bathrooms and four bedrooms, each with two single beds.
A washing machine can be used on site.
You can choose whether you book a double room for single use or a bed in a double room. We divide the rooms so that you have a room partner of the same gender. If the second bed is not booked, we will provide you with the double room for single use, but in this case we will give you a 50% discount on the surcharge for the single room. If someone else is found for the second bed before departure, you will of course be refunded the surcharge. Alternatively, you can rebook to one of our other trips or cancel free of charge within the period specified in the terms and conditions.
We only have a limited number of single rooms available. So book as early as possible. After your booking, we will contact you to see if a single room is available. If you book a single room, it may not be located in the cabin, but elsewhere in Hattvika Lodge.
We take care of breakfast. We prepare the Breakfast PLUS for you every morning in the hut. The PLUS stands for fruit and sandwiches that you can take with you for the day.
You are flexible and responsible for your own dinner. You can decide whether you prefer the local restaurants or would rather buy food together and cook at the accommodation. We pass supermarkets every now and then so that you can stock up and the cabin has a fully equipped kitchen.
Please bear in mind that we are in the far north on the Atlantic coast, where weather conditions can change quickly. You should therefore be prepared for sun and clouds, storms and rain in equal measure.
You will receive a detailed equipment list in good time before the start of the course.
