Unfortunately, the new year 2025 is starting just as the old one ended: with a society that allows itself to be driven by individuals. The latest excesses have prompted us to deactivate our Instagram and Facebook accounts. beAnywhere was, is and always will be a platform for fact-based, considerate and respectful interaction. Intolerance, hate speech and shouting down the opinions of others and weaker people have no place there and, accordingly, we cannot be represented on social media platforms that actively withdraw from an already rudimentary moderation of such posts.
For us, this doesn't mean an overly drastic step, as social media platforms have always been a necessary evil, so to speak. And even if the latest developments only leave us shaking our heads, fortunately we can quickly look past them and look to the future. Our accounts on other platforms such as LinkedIn, Mastodon or Vero will also remain - one almost has to add: at least for the time being, because who knows what will happen next in the social media world.
