June 2024 - Meteorological entropy
Everything at once, nothing lasting. A moment on the Norwegian Atlantic coast with sun, storm, driving snow - all within minutes.

Sometimes nothing happens for a long time. And then everything happens within a few minutes. Like on this day in April 2023 on the coast of the Lofoten Islands in Norway. Sun, cloud storms, snow flurries, storms and calm winds give a brief interlude and all their elemental power is contained in a period of just a few moments.

As soon as the sun came out, the snow flurries became so dense at times that photography was out of the question. However, this changed after a very short time. In addition to the sun's rays, a storm set in and blew gustily across the beach. The snow flurries now subsided sufficiently for the camera to be put to good use. Thankfully, a flock of seagulls took off at the same time, giving this picture even more dynamism than it already had due to the inclement weather.

But that was not all. Our trip to this beautiful Nordic sandy beach ultimately ended in constant rain, with soaked clothing and equipment. And yet the Lofoten had once again shown that they live up to their reputation as a treasure trove of scenery and that it is precisely these capricious weather conditions that give them their charm.
