Switzerland, with its breathtaking scenery, is home to some of the most beautiful lakes and mountains in the world. One of these lakes is the famous Lake Lucerne, nestled between the imposing mountains of Central Switzerland. The majestic Rigi Hoflue, a mountain that is not only known as the "Queen of the Mountains" but also offers a wealth of nature and leisure experiences, is the south-easternmost spur of the three peaks Rigi Kulm (1797 m), Rigi Scheidegg (1659 m) and Rigi Hoflue (1699 m). Several cable cars and cogwheel railroads lead up from different sides and allow a huge number of tourists to enjoy the impressive view of the Swiss mountains from the summits every year.

Our picture of the month for March 2024 puts the Rigi Hoflue in the right light in the glowing evening sky, nestled between Lake Lucerne and Lake Lauerz. In the foreground is the capital of the canton of Schwyz, the eponymous town of Schwyz, while behind the Rigi Hoflue at the end of Lake Lucerne, the city of Lucerne awaits travelers from all over the world.
