A brief moment, a last ray of light before the sun sets behind Lake Geneva in the west. Glowing red illuminates the striking west face of the Tour d'Aï above the multinational mountain village of Leysin, a deep blue evening sky will soon transition to what photographers call the "blue hour" after sunset.
The 2331 m high Tour d'Aï can be reached via several climbs, including an exposed via ferrata, and offers a stunning view over the foothills of the Alps towards Geneva from its extensive summit slope. But the viewer can also let his gaze wander deep into the Valais, all the way to Mont Blanc - unfortunately, far too much for it to be depicted in a single image.
