Mont Collon, an unmissable monument on the drive to the far Val d’Hérens in the Swiss canton of Valais. The 3637 m high, glaciated mountain is somewhat overshadowed in terms of altitude by its famous 4000-meter neighbors such as Dent Blanche, the Matterhorn or Dent d’Hérens, but it still represents a worthwhile goal for experienced mountaineers who tackle its icy summit plateau from the 3153 m high Cabane des Vignettes.
This somewhat unusual motif was taken at blue hour some time after sunset, when the sun is still sending its very last, indirect rays onto the prominent summit dome. From the quaint mountain village of Arolla, you have an excellent view of this mountain, which can always fascinate in the most varied lighting conditions.
